Positions for graduate students and two (2) postdoctoral fellows are available immediately in the theoretical/computational chemistry group of Dr. Aurora Clark in the Department of Chemistry at Washington State University, Pullman, Washington USA.

The two primary projects involve d- and f-block elements, specifically their reactions in solution with non-innocent ligands as pertaining to issues within alternative fuel/energy production. Both quantum mechanical (DFT, MCSCF, and MP2) and classical molecular dynamics methods will be used.  More  information on our current group research interests and topics can be found

The ideal post-doctoral candidate must have:
        Ph.D. in biochemistry, chemistry, physics, or closely related fields
        Extensive experience with standard electronic structure (G03/G09, NWChem, ADF, etc)
and/or major statistical modeling packages (DL_POLY, LAMMPS, AMBER)
        Published articles in the field.

Successful applicants will also have an excellent general knowledge and understanding of inorganic chemistry, ab-initio and classical methodologies. An ideal candidate would be technically competent, with excellent computational skills, familiarity with UNIX environments, and strong programming and scripting ability. S/He must also display exceptional motivation with a passion for science, and the ability and desire to work both independently and as part of a team. Good oral and written communication skills are essential.

Screening of applications begins 1/2/2010 and continues until the position(s) are filled. The initial appointment is for one year. Appointments may be renewed depending on work performance, and mutual research interest.
